The Noble Poet

It tastes better when older
That’s the thing about wine
Same as a poet with a pen

And blank sheet of paper
The poet gets better and bolder
And the lines a tad finer

Than when he first dipped
the quill in the ink,
and the rethink

Makes clear the blurred lines
That stretch wit reason.
When everything looks even

Fluid ink meets rigid paper
And it takes a pretty form
It sometimes meets a flypaper

Which makes it go without a rhyme
And feel a little bit like lime
Upon a tender tongue.
