Midnight’s Dress

Photo Credit: Ivana Cajuns on Unsplash

I’ve lifted midnight’s long dark dress

To reveal the brightly coloured flesh of day

That reflects in clear springs that seek to bless

All who come to wash, drink and play

To relax under all the scenting trees

That surround this beautiful flesh of day

Peeling off debris of midnight’s dress that stress

All who remain under her dull incandescence

That distress even when they want to be gay;

I’ve lifted midnight’s long dark dress

To reveal this beautiful flesh of day.

  1. Great poem. I enjoyed the pace of the words and the ryhmes. I like to write poetry in a similar style. Best wishes and thanks!

  2. The style reminds me of a quatern. Rhythm and rhymes are on point. Beautiful form. 🙂

    1. Thanks Sonya…it’s not a perfect quatern but it’s very close. I just liked the flaying of midnight’s dress to reveal day…and had to write
