Withered Rainbow

Photo Credit: Jordane Mathieu on Unsplash

Purple drips at the edge of the rainbow
into the fluid cloud that spread around
after the drenching morning rain

Earlier, the cracks the lightening left
across the open sky cut so deeply
the hills fled and high walls caved

the once sharp rainbow
begun to collapse into thin sheets
the lightening cracks left behind

Sango walks behind these thin cracked sheets
with his double-headed axe and fire in his eyes
dancing nakedly upon the grave

of the just withered purple dripping rainbow
like the wavering thought of a young man
without a rainbow around his maidens throne
