Quaint Depravity

A vast many brown roofs

Litter the horizon in the ancient town

As I look straight ahead

Into the clouds beginning to form

Pondering for the rain that soon began to fall

Upon the paved road that harboured portholes

Gradually filling up with murky water

The overflow running into the gutters

That flank the road and runs for miles

Into the heart of the city.

Human depravity stinks like this

Amidst it’s many faceless smiles

That lingers in the heart of friends and foes
